A VARIETY OF POSSIBILITIES
In addition to the two subject areas “mill-construction, grain and feed technology" that are selected simultaneously by almost all students, the DMSB also offers a range of additional qualifications:
ADVANCED TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE
The degree is always accompanied by an advanced technical certificate. In certain counties the “state-certified technician"qualification alsogains direct access to a university course or allows participation in preliminary entry examinations. Exact information on regulatory matters will be provided by the student services of the respective universities.
Alongside the study course, one can also enter a master’s examination at the “Chamber of Crafts”. The “Kreishandwerkerschaft Braunschweig” also provides specifically for DMSB-students supplementary preparation courses for parts III (economic, commercial and legal examination) and IV (vocational and work educational examination).
A successful final examination from the DMSB is acknowledged as part II of the Master examination. Part I, the practical exam, will be processed by the Chamber of Crafts - partly in the rooms and laboratories of the DMSB.
EDUCATOR QUALIFICATION EXAMINATION
DMSB-students can also attend the EDUCATOR QUALIFICATION EXAMINATION at the Chamber of Crafts or Commerce and Industry alongside their course. Since the abolition of a Master’s certificate in the miller-trade, “certified technicians / professionals” with the AdA-certificate are also permitted to educate apprentices, even if they don’t possess a Master’s qualification.
ANIMAL FEED CERTIFICATE
With the animal feed certificate students gain the qualification to manage a mixed feed operation. The requirement is a successful qualification within the subject area of "process technology" with at least a grade D in the subject animal feed production.
Since September 2009, the DMSB provides an additional offer, which targets specifically high school graduates.
Within four years, they complete dually (i.e. at work and in school) a condensed vocational training in one of the offered professions and at the same time gain the "state-certified technician" inmilling-related plant engineering.
Subsequently there is the additional opportunity to gain a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in business administration at the “Welfen Akademie in Braunschweig”.
